Ideal for your home, office, retail or industrial workstation, this Protect It!® surge protector features a surge protection rating of 1440 joules to defend your valuable electronic components against power surges and spikes. The six-foot (1.8-meter) power cord with right-angle NEMA 5-15P plug connects to a wall outlet. Rear mounting slots allow installation of the high-impact plastic housing on a wall or other flat surface.

Connectors and NEMA 5-15R Outlets Accept a Wide Range of Electronic Devices
Plug your computer, printer, wireless router, desk lamp and other home/office electronics into six NEMA 5-15R outlets to protect them against dangerous surges, spikes and line noise. Two outlets are set apart to accommodate bulky transformers without blocking the other outlets. The other four outlets can rotate to allow easy connection of plugs. Surge-protected gold coaxial connectors and RJ11 Ethernet connectors also protect cable, satellite, antenna, telephone and Internet equipment.

Questions & Answers

A surge protector will protect your electronics by acting as an “electrical sponge” by clamping down on spikes, “soaking them up” and converting the excess energy into heat, thus preventing the spikes from passing through the surge protector into the sensitive electronic devices and damaging them. As with any “sponge” a surge protector has a limited absorption capacity. Once that capacity is reached, the unit is no longer able to protect and must be replaced.

When a surge protector has been compromised (due to a single event like a lightning strike or over a series of spikes and surges), many surge protectors will use an audible or LED alert only. If these alerts are missed, your equipment will receive unprotected power without your knowledge. When a surge protector with automatic shutoff has its protection compromised, it will prevent power from reaching connected equipment entirely. This both protects the equipment and provides a timely and clear indicator that a new surge protector is needed.
