Features

Double-Conversion UPS Protects Equipment Against Damage, Downtime and Data Loss
This 9SX on-line double-conversion UPS system maintains perfect output by converting AC input to DC, then reconverting UPS output to fully regulated sine wave AC. Featuring surge suppression, true on-line operation with pure sine wave output and zero transfer time between on-line and battery modes, the 9SX1000G provides the highest level of AC power protection and battery backup for medical, light industrial, automation and other mission-critical IT applications where space is limited, but premium power reliability is essential.

Reliable, Expandable Battery Backup Keeps You Operational Through Power Outages
The field-replaceable, hot-swappable internal battery modules allow you to work through short power failures and give you enough time to safely save files and shut down your system in case of a prolonged blackout. Exclusive ABM technology increases battery life by 50 percent and closely monitors battery health to provide advanced notice when batteries need replacing. You can also connect up to four external battery modules (9SXEBM36, sold separately) for hours of extended runtime.

Optional Gigabit Network Interface Offers 24/7 Remote Access
The NETWORK-M3 network card (sold separately) enables full remote configuration and management, including load shedding, reboots of connected equipment and safe shutdowns. UPS firmware can also be flashed remotely through the NETWORK-M3 without dropping the load, so you don’t have to plan for downtime. The card meets both UL 2900-1 and IEC 62443-4-2 standards for cybersecurity, which were developed to address the vulnerability of connected devices to known malware/exploits and to protect business from these risks. An optional Environmental Monitoring Probe Gen 2 (EMPDT1H1C2, sold separately) provides a variety of environmental monitoring capabilities, including temperature and humidity conditions.

C13 Outlets Protect Your Connected Components
Six C13 outlets provide connected equipment with pure sine wave AC output and allow you to monitor power consumption down to the outlet group level. Power provided by these outlets is filtered to protect connected equipment against damaging surges and line noise. Three outlets are grouped into two load banks that let you shed non-critical loads to extend runtime for critical loads.

Clear LCD Interface Keeps You Informed at a Glance
The high-contrast front-panel LCD provides detailed alarms and notifications to help diagnose any issues. It provides system status, event logs, battery and power module status, usage analytics, serial number, firmware update info and more. Audible alarms can be disabled through the front menu when the UPS goes to battery power.

Advanced Communications Ports Allow for Automatic Saves and Shutdowns
RS-232 and USB ports connect to a serial-enabled device for a variety of communication options (cables are included). A dry-contact relay port can be programmed through the LCD to provide reliable communications to automation and industrial components. The RPO/ROO port permits emergency shutdown or remote restart of all connected equipment.

Supports Tower Installation on a Flat Surface
Place the 9SX1000G on a table, shelf, pedestal or floor in your data center, computer room, network closet, workbench, dispatch console, security workstation or other professional work surface. The eight-foot cord with C14 input connects to a compatible AC outlet.

Questions & Answers

Yes. The 9SX, like its 9130 tower UPS predecessor, is designed to protect enterprise class IT hardware and industrial applications with PLCs and other automation devices. The 9SX continues Eaton's long history of online, double conversion UPS technology for mission critical battery backup protection.

There are multiple 9SX platforms, which each have their own configuration of internal batteries. The 9SX 700VA and 1000VA use (3) internal batteries, the 1500VA utilizes (4) internal batteries, and the 2000VA and 3000VA models use (8) batteries. All models except the 9SX 700VA have a compatible external battery module with twice the number of batteries as the UPS. Keep in mind that adding batteries increases the stored energy for more runtime and does not increase the load carrying capacity of the UPS.

No. Most customers prefer to put the external battery modules next to the UPS, but it is not necessary. Eaton does provide six foot 9SX battery extension cable accessories in order for the EBM to be placed up to five feet away from the UPS.

The 9SX is designed to accept generator power in most applications without any special action. Some generator applications may have high THD due to an undersized generator or other electrical infrastructure challenges. For these applications, the RPO port can be reprogrammed through the front menu as an on-generator signal thereby opening up the input voltage parameters for increased compatibility. The 9SX manual can provide more detail on using the RPO port for on-generator signal. Read more on planning for UPS and generator compatibility.

The static bypass is a fast-acting semiconductor switch that enables a UPS to transfer back to utility power in milliseconds in the event of an overload or internal fault. The result is extremely high availability even when things may go wrong, such as an overload or an inverter failure. All Eaton 9 series product utilize online, double conversion topology and contain an internal static bypass.
