USB Car Charger Safely Charges 2 Mobile Devices in Your Vehicle Simultaneously
This dual-port USB car charger with Quick Charge (QC) 3.0 technology lets you quickly and safely charge two USB mobile devices at the same time. You and a passenger can connect your smartphones, tablets, notebooks or power banks, to name just a few compatible devices, to ensure satisfactory battery charge when you reach your destination.
Charges QC 3.0-Compatible Devices up to 4 Times Faster than Standard Chargers
Instead of charging at a preset power level, the 18W USB-C cable adjusts to the appropriate power level (3.6–6V 3A, 6–9V 2A or 9–12V 1.5A) to provide as much charge as your QC-compliant device’s battery can handle. The specially coiled cable takes up much less space in your vehicle than a regular 6-ft. (1.83 m) cable. It also resists tangles and knots to avoid cable clutter on the road.
Built-In Auto-Sensing Adjusts to Proper Power Level to Get Your Device to 100%
The USB-A port features auto-sensing technology that detects the connected device and automatically adjusts to the appropriate power level up to 5V/2.4A, perfect for fast-charging tablets and e-readers. The U280-C02-30W-C6 protects against overheating, overcurrent and overcharging. In fact, it stops charging as soon as your devices’ batteries are at full capacity.
Plugs into the 12V DC Power Outlet in Your Vehicle
The compact charger connects to any standard 12V DC vehicle power outlet, such as the one on your dashboard. Just plug it in and connect it to your devices for fast, convenient mobile charging. An easy-to-see blue LED indicates the charger is receiving power. The U280-C02-30W-C6 is compatible with Apple (including iPhone), Android (including Samsung), Windows and Amazon devices with USB-A, USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 charging ports.

Questions & Answers

It depends on the make and model of your car. Some cars require the keys to be in the ignition and turned to "On" or "Acc" for the power point (cigarette lighter) to provide power to the USB charger. Other cars may continue to supply power to the cigarette lighter even if the engine is turned off. To be sure, turn your vehicle off and see if your phone or tablet continues to charge. Important: if your vehicle does supply power to the cigarette lighter when the engine is turned off, do not leave your device charging for an extended period of time to avoid draining your battery.

In practical terms, yes. Older cars have cigarette lighter sockets that can power your electronics. More modern cars have 12V DC Auxiliary Power Outlets that power electronics but should NOT be used with a cigarette lighter. You can use an accessory plug with either an old or new outlet. You can read more about the standard (SAE J563_200902) governing Auxiliary Power Outlets on the Society of Automobile Engineers (SAE) website.
